The OMG Church
People are always looking for the next big trend in churches. Internet churches, celebrity pastors, fog machines, lights, and production! People say that all of these things make worship exciting and relatable. However, all of these exciting church trends often miss the OMG factor!
The purpose of this seminar is to challenge students to rethink and re-evaluate their view of missions from a short-term summer gig (or other) to a lifestyle/life-long endeavor. This seminar will seek to challenge preexisting notions of “Why missions?” and the centrality of our responsibility proclaimed by Christ. This topic will include but is not limited to evangelism, short-term and longer-term missions, personal vision and life decisions as well as participation/involvement in the local church.
A Christian View on Sexuality
Over the last two decades we’ve seen vast sweeping movements in the conversation of sexuality. Cisgender, homosexuality, transgender queer, non-binary, and a list of over 60+ different genders. How are we as Christians supposed to understand these things? This seminar will cover the Bible’s view on sexuality and gender.
How to Read the Bible
Oh how I love your law! It is my meditation all the day (Psalm 119:97). One of the greatest gifts that God has ever given to us is the Bible. The Word of God teaches us who He is, what He has done, and what we are required to do. But, apart from hearing sermons based on God’s Word, how can I learn to read the Bible for myself? Come to this seminar to find out!
🙋🏻♂️ Pick ONE seminar out of the four below for Wednesday!
When Darkness Seems to Hide His Face
In the Asian-American community, mental health is something that is oftentimes overlooked. Sometimes mental health is regarded as unimportant or something that only “crazy” people need help with. In this seminar, Pastor Jooho will share his testimony of going through depression and offer some verses from the Bible to encourage Christians to press on, even when darkness seems to hide His face!
Who is the Holy Spirit?
One of the defining principles of Christianity is that we believe in the Holy Trinity. One God and yet Three Persons. Most people can understand how “God” is Father, as we have earthly fathers. All of us can relate to Jesus because he lived in this world as a man and was tempted as we were. But… what about the Holy Spirit? The Holy Spirit is oftentimes misunderstood and considered mysterious. Yet, without Him we wouldn’t even have God or the Gospel! Come to this seminar and learn more about the Holy Spirit who is same in substance, power, and eternity as the Father and Son.
The Importance of Prayer
Is prayer your steering wheel or your spare tire? In the midst of days filled with friends, family, social media, and school, it’s easy to forget to pray. We often only pray when we are in moments of desperation, instead of depending upon the Lord in prayer in all things. Why should I pray? How do I pray? What happens when I pray? Come to this seminar to be enriched with the Bible’s teaching on prayer.
Addiction and Gaming
Games can be so fun... and so very addictive! How are we as believers in Christ supposed to deal with this topic? In this seminar - a sequel to a gaming seminar from last year - we will look at all the reasons why games can be so addictive and how we can have a gospel-centered view of gaming.
For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ and be found in him
